Finally, wait is over and the Android 4.0.4 Ice-cream Sandwich update for Galaxy Tab 7.7 is now available Over the Air. If you were unable to update the firmware over OTA then you can install it manually using this tutorial . We have created a detailed tutorial that will guide you through the procedure of installation. The new firmware for T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 7.7 is all updated with latest Google apps. Most of the bugs has been fixed and there are features like face unlock, ICS browser and camera, faster performance, ICS lock screen, latest Samsung launcher and UI.
T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 7.7 Official Android 4.0.4 ICS update Tutorial
1. You need to backup your important data, apps and settings on your device which may includes SMS, MMS, contacts, APN settings, MMS settings, Wi-Fi passwords, images, videos, music and few other things.
2. Also, check for your device battery if it is charged or not. You must charge It to at least 80-85% before you engaging in some kind of update process. Make sure that your device should not turn off in between the flashing process. If it does than it will be quite difficult for you to turn it on once again.
3. Ensure that the USB Debugging option is enabled on your Galaxy Tab 7.7 through the path ‘Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging’ and tick the USB Debugging option box.
4. All security suites such as firewall and antivirus must be disabled on your Galaxy device and Computer. So, that it will no longer be able to interrupt the process.
Update T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 7.7 to Android 4.0.4 Firmware:
Step 1. Download and install Kies on your Computer to get the drivers for your tab 7.7. Once the Kies has been installed on your computer, make sure that it is not running as it can cause interference during the installation process.
Step 3. On downloading, you will get ‘T859UVLH6_T859TMBLH6_TMB.zip’ file has a file size of 712 MB. So, you need to extract the same to obtain another file with .tar.md5 file extension (T859UVLH6_T859TMBLH6_T859UVLH6_HOME.tar.md5).
Step 4. Now, download the Odin 1.85 from here.
Step 5. Once again, extract the Odin3-1.85.zip to a single folder called Odin to find its contents.
Step 6. Then, you need to switch off your Galaxy Tab 7.7 and boot into Download mode simply by pressing and holding the Volume Down + power buttons until the screen turns on. When it appears leave the Power button only. You have to release the Volume Down button when Warning! message appears. Now you need to press Volume Up button to enter into download mode.
Step 7. Now, open up the Odin folder and double-click the Odin3 v1.85.exe file and then connect your tablet to the Computer. When you plugin the tablet, a ‘Added!’ will appear on display under Odin’s message box. If message doesn’t appears than it means your tablet is not been detected by the Computer. Also, check for the Kies, if it installed properly or not.
Step 8. Then in Odin, you need to click on PDA tab to select T859UVLH6_T859TMBLH6_T859UVLH6_HOME.tar.md5 file.
Step 9. Remember! You don’t have to make any changes in Odin other than selecting the .tar file. Please let the other things remain as it is. Also, don’t check the re-partition option.
Step 10. Then, you need to click on START button to start flashing the Android 4.0.4 official firmware on your T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 7.7. Once the flashing process gets completed, your tablet will reboot automatically and a PASS message will appear on Odin message box. Now , you can safely unplug your tablet from the Computer.
Step 11. On restarting, if your tablet stuck than reboot it and then press and hold the Volume Down + Power button same as earlier and lead it to download mode (Step 6).
Step 12. After entering into download mode, select ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option and confirm it by selecting Yes on the next screen.
Step 13. Then, you need to restart your tablet by selecting reboot system now option. Now, it is all yours. Now, you can have officially Android 4.0.4 on your T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 7.7.
